A word from the president

Hello everyone,
In 2024, local section 9400 will celebrate its 30th anniversary. The merger of the 2 sections 9200 of Montreal and 8470 of Quebec took place in 1994 when the president at the time Mr. Benoit Boulet from the Montreal region and myself from the Quebec region had asked the members the possibility of carrying out this merger which has proven to be profitable for all.
Recently, a new group has joined the local section under a service contract. This is the Le Blainville Golf Club which has approximately one hundred and twenty (120) workers. The executive of local section 9400 welcomes them to our group.
During 2023, around ten collective agreements were signed. The vast majority of these cases were signed without resorting to pressure tactics or a labor dispute.
The unit presidents of local section 9400 met on September 26 and 27, 2023 in Bécancour to discuss different points in our sector. At the heart of this meeting, we were able to watch a video presentation of the history of the local section, discussions concerning placement agencies and temporary foreign workers, the modification of the law on health/safety and psychological harassment, a presentation from the FTQ Solidarity Fund, another from CASOM, an intervention from the recruitment service at the United Steelworkers Union as well as a presentation on the psychological health of restaurant workers and domestic violence in our sector.
For 2024, the executive committee of the local section will continue to support you, to be there for you in negotiations, CNESST files, employment insurance files and will also be present to ensure compliance with all collective agreements. It is one of the priorities of local section 9400 to allow you to obtain notable gains in terms of working conditions.
Local 9400 is recognized for offering service on a human scale for all its members, regardless of the size of the union unit. The released officers make sure to make themselves available to answer all your concerns on issues that affect both work and personal life. During the coming year, we promise to continue to offer you the service that has made us famous.
Greetings everyone and we look forward to seeing each other soon!

Guy Gendron - President
